On May 31st, 2019, we were invited to teach the "Outdoor Mechanics" course at the Becoming an Outdoorswoman weekend, hosted by the Manitoba Wildlife Federation. We were really excited to participate and share the experience we've gained since we started Recreation Revolution just over a year ago.
The MWF felt it must have been a good fit for us to be there since we clearly have some experience working on some small engines, and we've learned a lot through feedback from our customers, and by servicing our own machines!
Our goal with the program (our program was 3 hours long) was to give our students a basic understanding of 2-stroke vs. 4-stroke engines, how they operate, and some basic maintenance and troubleshooting tips. We looked at chainsaws, weed-eaters, ice augers, and (of course) a Snowdog! We even changed the oil on the Snowdog to show how easy it can be with the right tools.
And for our grand finale, we showed our students how to start a fire using the sparkplug. It was spectacular!
To the ladies that signed up for our course, THANK YOU! We hope you learned a little, but we also hope you had fun. And if they'll have us out again, we'll be back!
