What a great day at the LDB Ice Fishing Derby! This was our second year sponsoring this amazing tournament and we were excited to come out once again and provide some entertainment for the kids (and some brave parents). Our job was to give kids rides around the derby areas in sleds, and WOW did we have fun.
We were excited to see Todd Longley there too! Todd from City Cats (aka the Rock 'N Roll Fisherman) brought out his Ice Ridge Reaper, a monster van with tracks!! What an awesome machine.
Over the course of the day, we had the opportunity to meet with a lot of interesting people, many of whom recognized us from last year! To those of you who stopped by and said hello again, you made our day!
Once the derby started, it didn't take long for the kids to find us and jump in the sleds for a rip. At one point, we had 17 kids in three sleds behind the driver (4 sleds in total), but it didn't stop the Snowdog! We were amazed at the power of these little machines!
So we did some math: Assuming the average weight of each of those kids was around 50 lbs, then we were hauling just over 1,000 lbs in total, including my 225 lb frame. I'm not sure I'd ever need to haul 1,000 lbs of gear over the ice, but it's nice to know that these little machines have the capacity to do it.
Thanks so much to the organizers of the Derby for inviting us back, we hope to join you again next year! Thank you to all the volunteers who made the day go so smoothly. Excellent work!
And finally, congratulations to all the winners! Well done, all of you.
See you next year! Until then! Get outside and have fun!
